HISTORY OF HOLY SPIRIT SCHOOL

In the year 2002 We, The Society of The Holy Spirit Sisters were invited by late Most Rev.Bishop Gorantla Johannes to a traditional Catholic parish P.Yaleru, in Anantapur Dist,in Kurnool Diocese,to teach in an aided school and take care of the pastoral ministry.

Whole of Anantapur district is drought hit area and we could notice a lot of dryness all through, due to scanty rainfall, and it’s a known fact known to whole nation. Poverty was witnessed everywhere, people had less awareness towards personal health and hygiene. The most sad part in the lives of the people was living in utter poverty, not having enough resources to maintain the families and education of the children was a distant dream for them. At this juncture the people around expressed their request to establish a missionary school, in which their children could be educated with academics as well as with human values.

As our founder always admonishes our sisters,” Read the signs of the times and serve the people knowing the needs of the locality. ”In 2005,through the inspiration and guidance of The Holy Spirit, with the blessing and help received from Late Bishop Most Rev.Gorantla Johannes, we began the school with the name Holy Spirit School at Atmakur, in Anantapur district, with 30 students, in a temporary shed in the vicinity of the church. Today, It is one of the most prestigious schools in the region. In a short span of time God blessed with good number of admissions and with generous donors who generously extended their help to construct the school building in 2006, and we have gone to put up the first floor in year 2010. Today we have 26 well equipped spacious classrooms, a vast playground with a compound wall all around it , the school also installed mineral water plant for the students’ use, we take utmost care to look into the safety of the students ,the whole campus is under CCTV SURVEILLANCE. The school arranged transportation facility with the radius of 25kms, deployed 4 buses for the conveyance. We have 25 members on the staff, including the management, and 10 supportive staff.

Academics

The school offers a comprehensive curriculum from Kindergarten to class X, with a focus on academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and character development. The school follows the State Board Syllabus. For the academic year 2023-2024, the numbers on the registers mount to 710.The first batch of class X appeared for their board exam in the 2013, since then we are proud to say that our students stand first at Mandal level. In the year 2023-2024 our student by name Laxmi Sharanya secured 575/600, stood as the Mandal topper in SSC results, also we bagged third place in Mandal level. Many students secured 500 above marks, and most students passed with high first-class marks. At the district and State levels our students fared so well that one of our students, by name Navya Sree stood in the second position in Abacus and Vedic Maths .In sports and games, at the Zonal level in Kabaddi ,our school team achieved the first position.
